Paul Spurgeon founded Nations Media Partners in 1996 at t he age of 29 and moved from his home town of Topeka to Kansas City. His prior experience was in the field of M & A for cable television, beginning at the age of 21 with HPC Puckett & Company. His goals at age 19 were to become an investment banker in the field of media. His tireless devotion to the clients and staff, a rigid weekly schedule of WIP meetings (Work in Progress) which is really just brainstorming to overcome any transaction difficulties encountered by the firm and a family, success based environment has vaulted Nations Media to best in its class.
Paul enjoys the challenges greater than the easy deals and most of the members of the firm have adopted that philosophy. His greatest mentor is Tom Puckett, chairman of HPC-Puckett who hired Paul two weeks out of college and gave him support and teachings that formed the basis for what Nations Media has become.
Paul is an avid “foodie”, always one of the first to try any new restaurant opening. He enjoys his travels across the United States with clients throughout North America, providing him a back-drop for the culture of each region.
Paul has been a featured speaker at NTCA, OPSATCO, Shorecliff conferences, the winner of the 40 under 40 awards and many other non-profit recognitions in Kansas City and Topeka. He has served on the board of the MS Society for seven years, leading a committee that raised $7.4 million in custom built assisted living facilities inj Kansas City and Topeka. He currently serves on the board of Hines Biometrix and Andrews Candy Company.
Paul’s parents became unable to care for him and his siblings at the age of seven and he spent his formative years in foster and group homes. He believes this early life experiences taught him the skill set he now uses in his work with clients at Nations Media Partners.
